ARE YOU COACHABLE?
Coachability is understanding your limitations and then being open to receiving correction and feedback in order to improve upon your limitations. The best players to be around are those that are coachable. There is nothing more a coach loves than players who are willing to be open. On that same spectrum, being coachable is beneficial in the opposite way. Coaches are more willing to trust and listen to players who take constructive criticism.

Being coachable is an important aspect of basketball. All coaches, whether it be at the high school, college, or professional level, are always looking for players who are not only talented but coachable. There have been numerous cases of athletes with tremendous talent who can only go so far, due to not being team players or not coachable. Remember, talent can only take you so far, and the other aspects of the game such as hard work and coachability are just as important!
Questions to ask yourself:
Do I trust my coach? Do I trust their philosophy and am I giving my coach a fair chance?
Do I apply the corrections my coach offers me immediately and directly?
Am I a student of the game and do I genuinely want to get better?
If you answered yes to all three of these questions, then chances are you're a coachable player. But you have to be truthful. Yes is the obvious answer for most, because it makes you feel and look positive. You really have to look deep into your character and answer honestly.
Being a coachable player takes time and effort. It's classified as self-improvement, and this is challenging for many people. But those individuals who task themselves with becoming better basketball players and ultimately better people will go far in life!
