Coach Poncho's 3 Everyday B-ball Drills

Coach Poncho has trained NBA, College and youth players alike. No matter the level of the player some drills are consistent across the board. Here are Coach Poncho's three drills every players can do before every practice and every game.
#1 Jump Rope Drills

Jumping Rope is an Awesome way to warm up and improve on footwork. This is an universal exercise that crosses all sports boundaries. The best athletes in world know how to jump rope efficiently and effectively.
Start with a simple two foot quick feet jump: 3 sets of 30 second to 1 minute intervals.
Move on to Lateral Jumps, Shuffle jumps and alternate foot jumps: 3 sets of 30 second to 1 minute intervals.
Finish with Double jumps and Hurdles Intervals: 3 sets of 30 second to 1 minute intervals.
Now you should be nice and loose for a great work out. Remember the best workouts are the ones when you're sweating before you start!
#2 Succession Dribbles

Now lets get those hands right and ready. Succession dribbles are a classic drill for getting ready. Check out any PG in the NBA/WNBA during their pre-game warmups, you will see a variety of interesting dribbling drills. Succession drills stimulate your hand eye coordination and get your fast twitch muscles firing.
30 second in place dribbling with correct posture & execution (Stand still or active feet).
30 second between legs figure 8 dribbles with each direction.
10 right hand to left between legs w/cross over & Left to right. Execute same for behind the back.
30 second two ball alternate and simultaneous dribbles (each)
#3 Form Shooting Succession Drill

Finally lets get that shooting form calibrated. Short shot drills are perfect for warming up and getting your hand eye coordination on point, not to mention that smooth wrist action.
Alternate on each side of basket with an angle to shot off of glass from each side. Include shots in middle of basket as well.
Each spot, shoot and make 10 shots. After each 10 makes, take 2 steps back and repeat until you get about 8 feet from basket.

These are 3 easy drills that work for all players on any level. Warm ups are a key way to set yourself up for successful workout or game. The right preparation can be the difference between your success or setback.
